White Orange Youth’s core vision is for a society where empowered youth work together to eliminate HIV/AIDS (Human Immunodeficiency Virus/Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome).

White Orange Youth was founded in 1997 as a Tanzanian non-governmental grassroots organization by a group of Tanzanian young professionals who believed that through collective action, youth could eliminate HIV/AIDS. They believed that by working towards this goal, youth would improve their own lives and contribute to the social, economic, and political development of Tanzania.

“White” symbolizes having clear goals. “Orange” represents the fruits of success that will come after achieving these goals. “Youth” signifies who we are and the population we serve.
